We spend an extraordinary amount of time worrying about tomorrow.
What if things don’t work out?
What should I do next?
What happens if I fail?
What if I am not prepared?
And somewhere between worrying about yesterday and planning for tomorrow, we forget the only day we actually have.
TODAY.
My two cats seem to understand this far better than most of us humans do.
One moment they are curious about everything around them. The next moment, they are fast asleep without a care in the World. They don’t seem burdened by yesterday’s mistakes or tomorrow’s possibilities.
They eat when they are hungry.
Sleep when they are tired.
Play when they feel like it.
And enjoy the warmth of the moment they are in.
Perhaps there is a lesson there.
Yes, tomorrow is another day. There will be new challenges, new opportunities and perhaps even new worries.
But tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.
Today has.
So make that call.
Have that conversation.
Read that book.
Take that walk.
Tell someone you appreciate them.
Laugh a little more.
Rest when you need to.
And don’t postpone living while preparing for life.
PLAN FOR TOMORROW, LEARN FROM YESTERDAY. BUT LIVE TODAY.
Because today, with all its imperfections, ordinary moments and little joys, is the only moment currently guaranteed to us.
My question for you:
What is one thing you have been postponing that you can do-or simply enjoy-TODAY?
