Why This Trust Exists

I’ve spent thirty eight years learning what it takes to build something from nothing — first in uniform, then as a founder. Along the way I met families carrying a kind of weight no one should carry alone: a child whose mind works differently and needs patience the world doesn’t always give, a child who simply isn’t getting enough to eat, a daughter written off before she’s had the chance to prove anyone wrong. Chaque Jour Aashirwad Social Welfare Trust — CJASWT — is my answer to that. Chaque jour means every day. Aashirwad means blessing. The idea is simple: show up, every day, and do what you can. Can Do. Will Do.

Where We Focus

Autistic Children

We support autistic children and the families raising them — with the patience, resources, and advocacy that early, consistent care requires. A different mind deserves the same chance to thrive.

Autism is more common in India than most people realize. The first large community-based study of its kind — screening nearly 4,000 children across five Indian states — found that roughly 1 in 100 children under age 10 has autism spectrum disorder, and about 1 in 8 has some form of neurodevelopmental delay. Other estimates put the figure at 1–1.5% of children aged 2 to 9, which would mean well over a million autistic children nationwide. The real number is almost certainly higher: awareness is low, screening in rural India is rare, and there’s still no national registry to track cases — so most children are diagnosed late, or not diagnosed at all. That gap, between how many children need support and how many actually get it, is exactly where CJASWT tries to help.

Child Nutrition

Poor feeding and malnutrition quietly limit a child’s future before it’s even begun. We work to get food, ration support, and basic nutrition to the children who need it most.

The Girl Child

We back the girl child — her health, her education, her right to be seen as an asset rather than a burden. Every girl we support is one more argument against the idea that she’s worth less.

The Trust in Action

Since 2020, CJASWT volunteers have been showing up at the Leper Colony community in R K Puram, New Delhi — with ration kits, warm blankets ahead of winter, and whatever else the moment calls for. It isn’t glamorous work: masks, gloves, a folding table, and a queue of people who don’t often get looked in the eye. But chaque jour means every day, and the idea was never to solve everything at once — just to keep showing up. A few moments from those visits:

26 September 2020 — Food and ration kits distributed to residents of the Leper Colony, R K Puram.

1 January 2021 — Warm blankets handed out to the same community ahead of Delhi’s winter.

22 January 2024 — Another round of food distribution at the Leper Colony.
